Find A Repair Shop Benifits Program Specs Process faq Application home

Q: Will I really see a large amount of business by signing up on this program?

A: It will take a few months until this program will drive customers to your repair facility. However, you will begin to see a growth in ACDelco VSC repairs AND customers needing maintenance services. Many of these will be NEW customers to your repair facility.

Q: Some warranty companies have recently gone out of business. Could that happen to
UWC?

A: No. UWC is owned by GMAC Insurance, which carries a financial rating from A.M.Best Co. of “A-” (Excellent).

Q: I know a local independent dealer that would really like this program.
Could they be allowed to sell it?

A: Yes. Please provide the dealer’s name, number and address on the form that has been included in your packet and that dealer will be contacted by a UWC representative.

Q: Can I put down a higher labor rate when I sign up?

A: Labor rates will be verified by UWC. If your labor rate appears to be out-of-line for your region, UWC may request proof of current labor charges.

Q: Can I sell this product in my TSS repair facility?

A: If you are a state-licensed auto dealer. Only licensed dealers are allowed to sell the product.

Q: What is your average call response time on claims?

A: Current call response times on claims are under one minute.

Q: Do I reduce my tech’s pay rate on these claims?

A: That is between you and your tech. It’s your business.

Q: What if I find something else wrong with the vehicle besides the damaged covered component?

A: The contract is designed to address the customer’s complaint(s). However, if you notice a problem that may cause additional expenses in the future, you should mention it to the UWC claims adjuster. They can then determine whether or not to make the additional repair at that time.

Q: Will this product cover fluids?

A: Fluids are only covered if needed in conjunction with a covered repair. You would want to consult the UWC claims adjuster on fluids.

Q: Does the contract cover diagnostic work?

A: Yes, most labor operations include diagnosis time. However, if additional time is required and reasonable, you can discuss that with the UWC claims adjuster.

Q: What about inspections?

A: Inspections are called for about 5% of the time. They are usually triggered by large claims, multiple repairs, or unusual repairs. Most inspections are generally performed within 24 hours.

Q: Do I have to accept ALL claims that come in the door? (I.E. My shop doesn’t work on engines.)

A: No. If your shop is not prepared to make the necessary repairs, you should recommend another TSS shop in the area that is capable of performing those necessary repairs.

Q: Can I get a list of other TSS shops that have signed up?

A: Yes. That list is currently on this website under Find A Repair Shop.

Q: Can I sign up later?

A: Yes, but realize that independent dealers will begin selling the product in your region, and other TSS shops are signing up now. The delay may cost you several weeks of potential business.
